Lapidaria margaretae (commonly known as Karoo Rose) is a rare and beautiful succulent native to the arid regions of South Africa and Namibia. It features thick, stone-like leaves arranged in pairs, forming a compact rosette that closely resembles living rocks—an excellent example of mimicry in the plant world. In autumn or early winter, mature plants may produce a single, daisy-like yellow flower that opens in the afternoon sun.
This slow-growing species thrives in bright light, ideally full sun or a sunny windowsill, and prefers a gritty, fast-draining soil mix. Water sparingly and only when the soil is completely dry, especially during its dormancy in summer.
✅ Pet-friendly — non-toxic to cats and dogs.
Each plant is potted in a well-draining cactus/succulent mix and fertilized with a slow-release fertilizer pellet.
